Quail Valley G/C - 090222

Hole 1
A generous fairway allows the player to swing away on this opening par 4 hole. The first hole is a great way to get started, but the course gets tougher from here.

Hole 2
A classic risk/reward short par 4, the second could be your first birdie of the day, or it could be your first bogey. A lake runs the length of the right side, while the left is guarded by bunkers and berms. An iron off the tee will leave only a wedge to the green.

Hole 3
Success on this par 5 will depend on your tee shoot. There is plenty of room on the right, but the closer you stay to the left side of the fairway, the better your chances of getting home in two.

Hole 4
Club selection is critical on this slightly downhill par 3. The green is protected by a bunker in front of the green, and a pair of bunkers in the back.

Hole 5
Hit it long off the tee on this par 5 hole. A lake at the right side of the green requires a cautious approach, and once on the putting surface, deceptive contours will make reading this green a challenge.

Hole 6
The sixth hole is a par 3 over a lake—coming up short is not an option. There is more room for error on the left side, and the green is split into halves by a sharp rise.

Hole 7
The seventh is a straightforward par 4, though a long drive on the right side could find the waste area. This green, too, is divided by a ridge, making your approach critical.

Hole 8
The trouble here is all on the left. A lake protects against a tee shot heading left, and at the green, a wetland lies just beyond a berm on the left side.

Hole 9
Drive down the left side for the best angle to the green, but this difficult par 4 will require you to play over the water no matter what. Par on this hole is a good score.

Hole 10
A birdie opportunity awaits you on this short, straightaway par 5. Avoid the trees that define the fairway on the right, and it will be clear sailing ahead.

Hole 11
The eleventh is a tantalizingly short par 4 for long hitters, but the lake on the right left side of the fairway comes into play more than it looks. A fairway wood off the tee is a good bet here, and will leave you with the best shot to this small, hard-to-hit green.

Hole 12
The twelfth is the longest par 4 on the course. This hole requires two good shots to get there, and when you get there, the green is sharply contoured. A poor putt will cost you here.

Hole 13
At 239 yards from the black tees, the par 3 thirteenth is something of a monster. Bunkers protect both sides of the green, and the green is deeper than it first appears.

Hole 14
The par 4 fourteenth is all right there in front of you. Water protects the left side, and the green is at the end of it. Stay to the right side with your drive, and be careful with your approach to this shallow target green.

Hole 15
The fifteenth is a modest par 4, though the green juts out into a lake, protecting it on three sides. The green itself is rather flat, so here is your chance to get another birdie.

Hole 16
This short par 3 may look like a respite hole to you, but the green is contoured sharply from back to front, and is deeper than appears from the tee.

Hole 17
The 459 yard par 5 seventeenth looks easy on paper, but the water on the right and the out-of-bounds on the left will keep your attention. Negotiate these hazards and a birdie may be yours

Hole 18
The difficult par 4 eighteenth plays longer than the yardage implies. If you achieve a par on this hole, you will have finished off your round in style. The best angle to approach this green is from the right side, but the hole plays shorter the further left you play.
